Friday Fragments

Once again, Friday is upon and not a minute too soon. As happens each week, Fragments are hosted by Mrs4444. Stop by and link up too, but only if you have an actual Friday Fragment post of course.

When I recently got my flu shot, I was petrified. I am not as brave as my daughter who took her daily injections in stride, often encouraging me to just go ahead and inject her. One shot a year and I am overcome with panic. Through clenched fists, I told the nurse to please let me know when it was coming so I could brace myself and not flinch.

She said "Do you really want me...." and with that I kind of heard from her words that it was in, but I had to look to see. Didn't feel a thing.

No matter what she is being paid, it isn't enough! She is good.

It was only five days after being announced as the winner of the Cuisinart Food Processor when the Fed Ex man was at my door, package in hand (get your mind out of the gutter). Unbelievably quick. It took me longer to look at the finely tuned piece of machinery in amazement and wonder about it's abilities, as well as my own.

I mean...it came with a 45 minute instructional DVD! I've never even had a new car that came with such an intimidating set of instructions.

Once I faced it, I am happy to say I am now hooked. And truth be told, it wasn't that difficult. It's like the Ferrari of equipment though, and I'm used to driving a Ford.

***

I live in a second story condo with a private entrance. The other day I was in my bedroom when I saw smoke rising from the condo below. Never a good sign, knowing that fire spreads upward. My mind began to race, wondering what things I should grab on my way out.

Uhmm....welcome to the first season of cold in this new place and the ability to see the exhaust from the dryer in the condo below.

***

Can I just say how easy it is to let my mind wander with the possibility of dandruff being confused as lice? Checking and rechecking his head, my own began to immediately feel like it was crawling with living things. I itched all over my head. And his is just fine after a deep conditioning.

In my defense, I have luckily escaped any lice infestations throughout my motherhood career so I did not know what they looked like. Happy to say I still don't.

***

It's obviously Friday, only this Friday marks the last day of the card marking period. Anxiously awaiting next week's report card. It'll be the first one of middle school.

***

This week's musical find is Colbie Caillait's remake of the Pussycat Doll's "Don't Cha". You can have a listen below, and enjoy your weekend.

I'm so jealous of your new kitchen equipment! Nice!

Great smoke story.

I'm good with shots. My sister hates them. Last time Dad gave us our flu shots I stuck a bandaid on and walked off. I heard Dad yelp behind me, turned around, and my sister had passed out cold on the floor.

Congrats on that great win!!

I hate shots. I got my flu shot, but I hated every minute of it!

I've never watched my instructional DVD. Then again, I don't have much counter space for my food processor either.

Congrats on the awesome win! And I did watch the DVD for my big fab food processor. Very helpful.

Wow, lucky you to win the Cuisinart! I'm jealous! Hope you get lots of use out of that.

Glad the flu shot didn't hurt. I've never gotten one, myself. Kinda wish I had after last week's nasty bout with the flu!

Happy Friday :)

Glad that you are enjoying your new food processor! Can't help but feel a little envious though...wish I had one:) You ever decide that you don't like it, you can send it my way! I'm only half joking about that BTW:) You cracked me up with that comment about the FedEx guy showing up with package in hand! I'm not the least bit ashamed to admit that my mind immediately went to the gutter:) Thanks for the laugh today! Smiles to you from McNabb Land

Won, I can so relate to you on several issues here.

1. Our washer/dryer is out in the garage and the exhaust escapes from the front of the house and you can see it all the time. We've had passersby stop and pound on our door several times, thinking our house is on fire. It's nice to know that people care enough to try and save us...even if it is just from the dryer.

2. I also escaped getting lice myself all through my girls growing up. However, just the mention of lice and even just reading your blog has now made my head itch like crazy.

I'm keeping good thoughts for you and for N having a good report card.

I sent you an email about your question. Sorry it's taking a few days.

*hugs*

That's pretty funny about the dryer. How dod you finally figure it out?

Happy weekend!

Ooh - your new kitchen toy sounds like fun!

Lice is such a scary thing - they are just so difficult to get rid of once they get in!! I do that too - start itching just thinking about it! :)

Thanks - now my whole head is itching!!

No fair mentioning lice without a warning. Now I'm gonna itch for the rest of the night.

Fingers crossed for you and N on the report card thing.

Hope everything goes well for you weekend!

I laughed at the smoke story! The apartment buildings across the street have dryer vents that face us and the first couple of times I was like "what a dumb place to have a chimney!"

Hi, won!

BTW, loved the song! I'm really into music and, if you check out my blog, you'll see I've got eclectic taste. This YouTube video gave me goosebumps, that means it's good.

Love to join your new group and get rid of the drama! Glad someone set this up, finally!

A company that provides an instructional video is progressive! That's very cool. I'm so envious of your new toy (and have requested one for Christmas :)

Loved the smoke fragment--too funny.

The bad part about shots is that there are those who give them painfully and from whom they are a breeze; it's the luck of the draw, it seems :)

Hope you had a nice weekend...

I think some people just have a special touch when administering shots and others make you feel like you've been jammed with a horrid instrument of torture.

Congratulations on your wonderful new kitchen toy! How great is it to have won such a fine piece of machinery?!

Hi, Won...another person wondering what happened to OHIH and hoping to be able to follow you and many of the others.

I've read your blog since I found you through overmckmama, and think you and Noah are exceptional people. I saw you on Dr. Phil and have wondered about you both since then; glad to see life is taking you in a good direction, and grateful you're sharing the journey with us.
